IntaPeople is a specialist recruitment agency, based in Cardiff, offering bespoke solutions within four key industry sectors of IT, Engineering, Commercial and Data Centre.
Established in 1994 and celebrating 20 years in business, the multiple award winning agency have expertise in sourcing high quality candidates for a wide range of permanent, contract and temporary positions across the UK, Europe and Middle East.

With a strong presence online IntaPeople conduct a large part of their activity through their website which serves as an online recruitment marketplace promoting both candidates, vacancies and clients.

The Challenge

The ADSL lines were subject to standard contention ratios, experiencing significant reductions in speed at peak times during the day. The broadband connection severely impacted the time spent by recruitment consultants researching candidates and vacancies; including browsing multiple client websites, accessing numerous job boards and large CV databases. IntaPeople had Cloud based systems in place for Internet security but the existing broadband connection resulted in a delay on each email being processed and a further 5 second wait per user, per Internet page, to determine whether or not a website was safe and secure. Backing up the servers was conducted every day and was taking up to 9 hours at a time. This meant it had to be scheduled throughout the day to ensure each individual backup job was completed before the next one started.

The Spectrum Solution

IntaPeople made use of the funding provided by the Super Connected Cardiff voucher scheme and contacted Spectrum Internet who proposed a superfast wireless-to-the-premise solution.
Spectrum Internet’s wireless networks have a range of up to 35 miles with line of sight and the solution is a particularly cost effective one for delivering fast broadband speeds. This high speed service allows speeds up to 1Gbps and Spectrum Internet have seen this type of connection proving particularly popular with SMEs throughout Cardiff.

Benefits and Results

Since receiving the superfast connection IntaPeople have experienced a ten-fold increase to both their upload and download broadband speeds. With the new connection the 9 hour data backups are now being conducted in under an hour. Web pages and delivery of email happen almost instantaneously and staff are now able to run simultaneous video interviews and conference calls without degrading the Internet for other members of staff. The increased speed and bandwidth that IntaPeople are now receiving is providing the business with great opportunities to improve efficiency, make cost savings and innovate the way that they work.

Improved efficiency & productivity . Administration is more efficient with the new connection; processes have been streamlined and tasks such as importing candidate CV’s onto the database completed in much less time. The website, which forms an important part of the business and is a channel for daily interaction with candidates and clients, now performs more quickly and has the ability to expand functionality such as online timesheets and video CV uploads. Sending and receiving large amounts of data, uploading it to the website and being able to share it almost instantly with each other, has made a big difference to staff productivity. Increased potential for growth. The high speed connection has meant that the business can implement new and more efficient practices; video conferencing has become a reality, reducing travel time for both staff and job candidates and facilitating the business growth internationally. IntaPeople can continue to grow the business and increase staff numbers without worrying about putting a further strain on their Internet connection and IT capabilities. Cost savings and flexibility. IntaPeople previously had three ADSL telephone lines to ensure that core business services were online at all times. With the new superfast link, they were able to cancel two of their ADSL lines, keeping one just as a spare, making a considerable cost saving. The increased bandwidth and speed means IntaPeople are now able to maximise their use of cloud applications, increasing their flexibility and reducing their capital expenditure.

In Conclusion

The Super Connected Cities scheme removes the cost barrier to super-fast broadband by providing funding to SMEs for the connection with a voucher up to £3000. The result is that this service is now becoming accessible to many more small and mid-sized companies who are seizing this opportunity to drive their business forward.
Spectrum Internet have their own fibre network which allows them to offer affordable high speed packages for SMEs with speeds up to 1Gbps from £50 a month. Businesses such as IntaPeople are one of many that are starting to enjoy a new superfast service and the future for them is now open to a far wider range of possibilities.
